Non-Surgical root canal treatment

Non-surgical root canal treatment sounds scary to many and is closely connected with many false presumptions. If you have other questions about the root canal treatment; feel free to browse my site. I frequently add more information about root canals from the perpective of my patients.

Delaying a root canal treatment is usually the chosen course for many people with damaged, infected or dead dental pulp. The dental pulp is the soft tissue contained in the pulp chamber at the centre of each tooth. This living pulp receives nutrients through the root canal(s) and is made up of nerve, blood vessels and connective tissue. We, at Root Canals Trinidad, wish to put all your concerns to rest. Truth is: the sooner you get a root canal specialist to diagnose the cause of your consistent tooth pain, the less complicated your root canal treatment can be.

Consistent tooth pain deserves proper diagnosis

Non-Surgical Root Canal Treatment  is performed to save teeth. Saving teeth prevents many unforeseen expences, and ensures better oral hygiene and quality of life in later years. The non-surgical treatment is simply to remove the traumatized, infected, or dead dental pulp. The pulp is replaced with a rubber-like material called gutta pulcher and sealed. After a few follow-up visits your dentist or endodontist (root canal specialist) will cap your tooth. This seals the roots.

Non-surgical root canal treatment can be performed by a general dentist. However, precision and care supported by dental operating microscopes, digital x-rays, track light monitors, painless anesthesia, and most importantly…frequency of root canal procedures is the main reason you should allow an endodontist to perform your non-surgical root canal treatment.

Non-surgical root canal or endodontic treatment is when the dentist or endodontist accesses the pulp chamber from the root. This maybe necessary when a root canal treatment was previously…(incomplete i.e. some bacteria or damaged tissue was left behind and is still causing pain)

After numbing the sensitivity of the area the endodontist makes an incision, shaves off the tip of the root or apex, cleans the infected tissue, fills the empty cavities and seals off the tip. This surgery is better known as apicoectomy.

Root canal treatment has a success rate of 85%. This non-surgical procedure is safely performed on incisors and premolars. If the treatment does not get rid of the infection tooth extraction will be the next step.

  1. It's tough indeed to get root canal done. Pain and bleeding is horrifying and those injections are tragic. Mom suffered from the same issue and got the treatment done from one of the best dentist Hermosa Beach last month. Medicines given were light and now also sittings are going on for cleaning and all. Hope she gets free from this situation soon.
